US trade chief to lead 22-member mission to Manila

A “high-level” delegation from the United States led by Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo will be in the Philippines next week to discuss opportunities for enhancing trade between Manila and Washington.

The 22-member US trade and investment mission is composed of C-level executives of various American firms who have expressed interest either to enter the Philippine market or increase their existing investments.

The delegation, which will be in Manila from March 11 and 12, will meet with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual.

A meeting is also set between Raimondo, the Private Sector Advisory Council and local business organizations.

The trade mission was a result of Marcos’ visit to Washington in May last year.

The US is one of the Philippines’ top three trading partners, together with China and Japan.
