Starting over: Xurpas creates new software unit under new management

Information technology company Xurpas is setting up a software development company as part of efforts to revitalize business operations.

In a regulatory filing, Xurpas said its board of directors approved the incorporation of a wholly-owned subsidiary, Xurpas Software Inc.

Xurpas said the name of the new unit could still be changed to “any other name as may be approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission.”

The new subsidiary will be primarily engaged in designing, developing, testing, building, marketing, distributing, customizing, selling and/or re-selling applications, games, software, cybersecurity software tools, digital solutions, whether internet, mobile, or other handheld applications, portals, hardware and other related products and services, except internet provider services, both for proprietary and custom development purposes.

As of the end of 2021, Xurpas had five subsidiaries namely, Xeleb Technologies Inc. Storm Technologies Inc., Seer Technologies Inc., Xurpas Enterprise Inc., and Art of Click Pte. Ltd.

The listed company was incorporated in 2001 as a technology company specializing in the creation and development of digital products and services for mobile end-users, as well as the creation, development and management of proprietary platforms for mobile operators.

Last JUne, IT veteran Jonathan Gerard Gurango assumed the position of chairman and CEO of Xurpas to turn the IT bust’s fortunes around.

Gurango has a solid track record in the tech industry, having worked at both startups and bluechip software companies in the Philippines and overseas.
