Bilyonaryo Ramon S. Ang is determined to give back to his hometown in Tondo, Manila.
The San Miguel Corp. chairman, president and CEO unveiled a second branch of the group’s Better World foundation within Tondo, this time for the Smokey Mountain area, to mark the conglomerate’s 133rd anniversary.
Better World is a charitable institution that provides free meals to the poor. The branch in Smokey Mountain offers a learning and skills development center that will cater to 2,500 families in the settlement area.
“Tondo holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I grew up. It is home,” Ang said in a Facebook post. “This is just the beginning.”
The aid doesn’t stop there. Ang said he pledged an initial P500-million funding to the City Government of Manila so that they can build more Better World branches for the rest of the city.
“If there’s one thing this place taught me, it’s that when we work together, we make the impossible possible,” he added.
How generous!
