A-list chef Margarita Fores is beaming with pride after another Filipina earned the distinction of being Asia’s best female chef for 2023.
Johanne Siy of Dagupan, currently the head chef of Singapore’s Lolla restaurant, won the title from the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Fores was the first Filipina to be named Asia’s best female chef in 2016.
“Congratulations to Johanne Siy, my Filipina chef sister, on winning Asia’s Best Female Chef 2023! Pinoy power, now we are two!,” said Fores, a scion of the bilyonaryo Araneta clan.
The brains behind the Italian restaurant Cibo previously compared the Best Female Chef award was to the Miss Universe pageant, but for the food industry.
Siy is no stranger to international accolades, having been named Female Chef of the Year by the World Gourmet Awards in 2021.
