Philippines seeks manufacturing collaborations with German firms

Top officials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and representatives from the private sector engaged in talks with the German Electronics and Digital Industry Association (ZVEI) in Berlin, as they presented proposals for potential collaborations in the manufacturing sector.

The Philippine delegation, led by Trade Secretary Fred Pascual, Board of Investments managing head Ceferino Rodolfo, and Dan Lachica, president of the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation Inc. (SEIPI), held discussions with ZVEI president Gunther Kegel, who also serves as the CEO of Pepperl+Fuchs, a renowned global developer and manufacturer of electronic sensors and components for the automation market.

With a remarkable sales revenue of one billion euros in 2022, Pepperl+Fuchs has already established a foothold in the Philippines through its two distribution companies: Tradepoints Inc., specializing in process automation, and Process Innovations Inc., dedicated to factory automation.

The primary focus lies on exploring opportunities for original design manufacturing (ODM) and original equipment manufacturing (OEM), along with potential outsourcing prospects within the electronics manufacturing sector.
