Pascual: Marcos Jr.’s SONA leaves no issue untouched

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s second State of the Nation Address (SONA) was comprehensive, according to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual.

In a television interview with SMNI, Pascual said Marcos covered a wide range of crucial issues, including the economy, business, and infrastructure development.

One significant aspect highlighted by the President was the development of the agriculture sector, recognizing its importance in the nation’s overall growth and progress.
Notably, the President also emphasized the government’s commitment to providing essential services to citizens, particularly those belonging to the economically disadvantaged segments of society.

A key highlight of the SONA was the President’s announcement regarding the remarkable impact of his presidential trips on the country’s economic landscape. These trips were reported to have resulted in a substantial estimated total investment value of P3.9 trillion, which is projected to create approximately 175,000 jobs.

Marcos added that investment projects approved by the Board of Investments (BOI) reached P1.2 trillion during the first year of his administration, while other strategic investments approved for processing through the newly established greenlanes amounted to P230 billion.

Pascual underscored the importance of green lanes as they would speed up the processing of strategic investments into the country.

Pascual said that out of the over 120 investment leads generated from Marcos’ foreign trips, 14 are expected to be realized this year, with six already beginning to operate.
