by Eileen Mencias

Mylo Speech Buddy secured first place in the ARISE Plus Ye! Boost Accelerator Program, receiving $2,500 (approximately P146,000) in prize money.

The ARISE Plus Ye! Boost Accelerator Program, a 14-week initiative funded by the European Union, offers training, mentoring, and networking opportunities with the International Trade Center and the QBO Innovation Hub, a platform established in 2016 by the private sector and the government to support startups.

“Our winnings will play a crucial role in our efforts to further grow the company and help more Filipino families,” said Vincent Rocha, founder of Mylo Speech Buddy.

London-based fintech company BCRemit, founded by Filipinos to provide efficient money transfer services for overseas Filipino workers, took second place and received $1,500 (P87,0000).

“Our focus has been on penetrating more markets geographically to reach more migrant workers. The grant we won will fund our expansion plans to the United States,” said Gio Calma, co-founder and director of BCRemit.

Third place went to PAMME, a social enterprise that employs women deprived of liberty to create bags and accessories from recycled materials. PAMME was awarded $1,000.

“The ARISE Plus Ye! Boost Accelerator Program has been remarkable. With its main focus on internationalization, I’m grateful that they have opened doors for us to explore global markets,” said Pamela Meija, founder of PAMME. “We take pride in this win.”
