LRT-1 Cavite extension zooms closer to Q4 2024 launch

Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) said Friday the first phase of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project is nearing completion and on track for a fourth-quarter 2024 launch.

Construction of the 6.2-kilometer extension, stretching from Baclaran Station in Pasay City to Dr. Santos Station in Paranaque City, is 98.2% finished as of April, LRMC reported.

The project is expected to significantly improve connectivity in southern Metro Manila.

All five new stations under Phase 1 – Redemptorist, MIA, Asia World, Ninoy Aquino, and Dr. Santos – are in advanced stages of construction, exceeding 90% completion.

Dr. Santos Station leads with the highest progress at 97.7%.

Accessibility is a priority, with all stations equipped with dual elevators for passengers with disabilities.

Escalators will further enhance passenger flow in both directions.

Passengers will benefit from seamless connections to various public transportation options through a strategically located facility offering designated bays for buses, jeepneys, taxis, private vehicles, motorcycles, and dedicated parking for PWDs.

The LRT-1 extension, a major infrastructure development, is expected to benefit hundreds of thousands of daily commuters by reducing travel times and easing traffic congestion in the area.
