Legal triumph: BIR wins cases against Buildforce Trading officers

The Bureau of Internal Revenue announced the successful prosecution of criminal cases against corporate officers and an accountant of Buildforce Trading Inc.

“Just this February 2024, we won criminal cases before the DOJ against the ghost receipts syndicate. The first day of March 2024, we won another criminal case against the syndicate. This syndicate ends now. The culture of using ghost receipts ends now,” BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr.said in a statement on Monday.

Subsequent to the triumph at the Department of Justice (DOJ), Lumagui revealed the initiation of criminal cases against the corporate officers and accountant of Buildforce Trading Inc. Seven cases have been filed before the Regional Trial Court and Metropolitan Trial Court of Quezon City for violations of various sections of the National Internal Revenue Code.

On February 15, Lumagui, accompanied by DOJ representatives, submitted criminal cases against the corporate officers and accountant of Decarich Supertrade Inc. and Redington Corporation at the Regional Trial Court and Metropolitan Trial Court.

“The utilization of ghost receipts constitutes economic sabotage and represents the most severe form of tax evasion. The BIR is unwavering in its commitment to conduct audits and pursue criminal cases against those implicated. Our consecutive triumphs at the DOJ underscore the criminality of their actions,” Lumagui said.
