From battery cells to clean power: VSO goes 100% renewable

Valerie Products Manufacturing Inc. (VSO), a leading Philippine manufacturer of automotive and appliance parts, has partnered with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES) to transition to 100% renewable energy (RE).

Under this agreement, VSO will exclusively source its electricity from ACEN’s diverse portfolio of clean energy sources, including solar, wind, and geothermal power plants.

This move aligns with VSO’s commitment to both sustainability and cost-efficiency.

“We’re proud to partner with ACEN RES to power our operations sustainably,” said VSO president Edward Jose.

“This shift underscores our dedication to environmental responsibility while optimizing costs.”

Founded in 1975, VSO has grown from a small battery cell insulator manufacturer to a major player in the Philippines’ automotive, electronics, and construction sectors.

With over 20 facilities nationwide and a workforce exceeding 4,000, VSO is a significant contributor to the Philippine economy.

“We’re delighted to welcome [VSO] to our growing list of renewable energy clients,” said Sheila Mina, VP for Commercial Operations and head of Account Management at ACEN RES. “ACEN remains committed to providing energy solutions that empower businesses to achieve their sustainability goals while maintaining operational efficiency.”

VSO’s transition is facilitated by the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), a government program allowing businesses with high electricity demand (at least 100 kilowatts) to choose their preferred renewable energy supplier.

This program not only helps companies like VSO reduce their environmental impact, but also promotes the development of renewable energy sources within the Philippines.
