Expecting a parcel from LBC? Beware of this text scam

LBC is sounding the alarm about a new modus involving texting links to package recipients to obtain access to their e-wallets or digital banking accounts.

The scam involves sending out fake notices that their parcel delivery from LBC was unsuccessful and that they had to pay a “re-delivery” fee to get the items.

The link masks a fake LBC website that requires people to pay the supposed fine through GCash or their mobile banking channels. However, these channels are fake and are used to harvest one’s banking log-in details so that the fraudsters can hack into their accounts and steal their money.

One victim lost P16,000 to the scheme.

The courier firm owned by the Araneta clan warned the public against clicking links sent through text message by senders pretending to be a representative of LBC.

“Laging tatandaan na ang LBC Express ay hindi magpapadala ng kahit anumang link na nangongolekta ng online or e-wallet payments,” LBC said in a statement.
