The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has joined forces with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to provide support to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in embracing sustainability practices and enhancing their reporting efforts.
During the signing of the memorandum of agreement, GRI’s CEO, Eelco van der Enden, emphasized their shared vision to uplift the MSME industry.
“We are pleased to formalize this MoU with DTI to assist Philippine MSMEs in adopting sustainable practices. These enterprises often face challenges related to their size, including resource limitations, skill gaps, and knowledge constraints in the realm of sustainability,” he said.
Through this collaborative partnership, GRI and DTI are committed to training 8,000 MSMEs in sustainability practices and reporting.
Additionally, they will provide support to 300 of these enterprises to successfully publish their inaugural sustainability reports within a five-year timeframe.
