Citi credit card holders left frustrated as they encounter transaction issues during Hamilton Asian premiere pre-sale

Citi credit card holders hoping to secure tickets for the much-anticipated Asian premiere of Hamilton were met with disappointment as they encountered transaction issues during the pre-sale period.

Aboitiz-led Union Bank of the Philippines, the official sponsor and pre-sale partner for Hamilton Philippines, gave priority access to tickets to its cardholders and Citi credit cardholders. However, many Citi credit cardholders reported being unable to make transactions using their cards during the pre-sale period from April 17 to 19.

UnionBank acquired Citi’s consumer banking business in the Philippines last year, including its credit card business.

The setback caused frustration among customers who took to social media to express their disappointment and urge the organizers to resolve the issue.

Despite the inconvenience, Union Bank has assured the public that the issue is being addressed, and Citi credit cardholders will have another opportunity to purchase tickets when the general sale opens on April 20, 2023.

Hamilton, the award-winning musical known for its innovative approach to storytelling through rap, hip-hop, and R&B music, is set to premiere in Asia at Solaire in September.

The musical has received critical acclaim and won several awards, including 11 Tony Awards, since its off-Broadway debut in 2015.
