BIR partners with Chinese General Hospital for employee health benefits

The Bureau of Internal Revenue has tapped the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center for the wellness program of BIR officials and employees.

The BIR and the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association Inc., the owner and operator of Chinese General, signed a memorandum of agreement that will provide discounts to BIR officials and employees for emergency cases and hospital confinement.

BIR officials and employees will be given a 50% discount on room charges, 20% discount on laboratory procedures except for those involving blood samples, pulmonary services excluding professional fees, and x-ray except its handling fee.

The discount also applies to out-patient medical services but the BIR official or employee will still need to pay for the medicines.

The discount will be computed after all applicable government benefits such as Philhealth and senior citizen’s discounts are deducted.

To avail of the discount, the BIR official or employee must present a BIR ID and request referral signed by the agency’s commissioner or the BIR deputy commissioner for Resource Management.

The agreement between the BIR and Chinese General is for one year but can be renewed 30 days before its expiration as agreed upon by both parties.
