The Bureau of Internal Revenue has set up tax assistance centers nationwide to help taxpayers with the filing of their 2022 annual income tax returns (AITR).
According to the BIR’s tax calendar, the deadline for the filing of annual income tax returns or forms 1702, 1700, 1701, and 1701A for calendar year ending December 31, 2022 is on April 15, 2023 which falls on a Saturday.
In an advisory, BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr. said the Electronic Filing (e-filing)/Tax Assistance Center at the BIR National Training Center-Auditorium in its head office in Quezon City will be open until April 17, 2023 from 8am to 5pm, except on Sundays and holidays. Lumagui said taxpayers can use desktop computers at the e-Filing/Tax Assistance Center for the electronic filing of their annual income tax returns and online payment for the taxes can also be done in the center using available electronic payment gateways.
Lumagui said manual filing of tax returns will not be done in the centers except for senior citizens or persons with disabilities who will be filing their own tax returns. He exempted employees who are qualified for substituted filing but opted to file their income tax returns that may be a requirement for promotion, scholarships, loans, foreign travel, and other purposes.
Married individuals whose spouses are not entitled to substituted filing but are deriving income from a single employer may also manually file their returns at the tax assistance centers.
The bureau will assign personnel in the tax assistance centers to assist taxpayers in filling up their returns and submitting the required attachments and answer their questions.
